D CEO has named ITECS founder Brian Desmot a finalist for CIO/CTO of the Year in its 2027 Innovation Awards. The magazine's editors reviewed more than 300 nominations, and Brian is one of seven finalists in his category.

Now in their eighth year, the Innovation Awards recognize the companies and leaders driving innovation across Dallas-Fort Worth. D CEO will profile the finalists in its January/February issue and online, then honor the winners at a private dinner in January.

"This recognition belongs to our team," Brian said. "We spent 2026 building our AI practice and bringing turnkey AI to businesses of every size, and it means a lot to see that work recognized by D CEO."

Brian founded ITECS in 2002. Today, ITECS manages IT and cybersecurity for its clients and helps them put AI to work.

Brian on the future of AI in Dallas

Brian also joined four other business and education leaders in "Shaping the Future of AI in Dallas," a roundtable D Magazine published as partner content in October. He described how ITECS rebuilt its own delivery work around supervised AI agents first, and said the hard part "was never the technology. It was discipline: deciding which decisions a machine may make unsupervised and which always require a human signature."

Shaping the Future of AI in Dallas

“Our rule is simple: automate the preparation, never the relationship. An agent can assemble the analysis, draft the report, and flag the exceptions. A person delivers the news, particularly when the news is bad.”

— Brian Desmot, Founder and CIO, ITECS
